**Lend ur Helping Hand**
Recently, gotten a bad new from one of frz that our frz (Kit) was involved into a car accident...
Kit was a very active and adventurous guy who drives his beloved 'wife' ( Land Rover ) ard wiz him. If u have remembered reading my blog, pals, u should have seen his 'wife' which I have posted...
This accident was oso came on the Chinese newspaper ( Wan Bao) a few days ago.... :(
He was sitting his frz's car that day when the accident occurred...
This change his life entirely... He was badly injured. He was the front seat passenger in a van driven by a very good friend. They were travelling along Old Upper Thomson Road, it was after a rain and the road condition was slippery. It was a forested area, and a few monkeys ran onto the road. While trying to swerve to avoid the monkeys, his frz lost control of the vehicle. The van went off the road, and smashed onto a tree at the passenger side.
While his frz oli got supericial injuries, kit was not so lucky....
Kit had his hip had dislocated, and the doctors had "popped" it back into its socket in the emergency procedure. He still had fractures at the hip and around his eye socket, but his most immediate worry was the swelling of his brain due to "bruising" and this may damage his brain even more. The doctors decided to keep him in coma to observe if they need to open up his skull to relieve the pressure.Fortunately, the swelling at the brain subsided and after about 4 days, the doctors stopped the medication and we finally awaited for him to wake up.
He could recognise most of his frz, and was able to hold a pretty decent conversation. The only signs of anything different was that he had difficulty remembering certain words to use in everyday conversations and his stiffness and lost of mobility (most likely attributed to his hip fracture). His behaviour was also different. When we spoke to the clinical nurse on the prognosis at this stage, it became clear that it will take some time for recovery - and about 70% of brain injury patients recover to various degrees of functionality in the brain. Kit however has a good chance as he is still young. Within days however his behaviour got more "irrelevant". He was spitting all over, refusing to use the urinal bag or urinal bottle and kept insisting to get up to go to the toilet. He had also torn out all his wound dressings and had to be restrained (ie. tied to the bed), which made him more irritable and angry. It was painful for us to see him at this stage.
A pity that he left wiz 1 more month before getting his degree. He is the oli son and his dad passed away when he was young. His mother was the oli breadwinner and this medical bills was a hefty sum to her.
